Rising Divergence focuses on the popular Vietnamese national creation myth epic, often referred to as “the 100 egg story”. The video draws parallels between the story and other creation myths from around the world. Exploring the central theme of separation, as it is used within the narrative of each of these creation myths, the piece uncovers unexpected commonalities. Using costuming as a nod to each of these cultures, “Rising Divergence” subtly plays out “the 100 egg story” by touching on certain aspects each society brings to its own version, highlighting interconnectedness spanning centuries.
