Oodaaq Festival 2013, Rennes, France
The third edition of Oodaaq Festival will take place 16-26 May 2013 in Rennes, France.
L’Œil d’Oodaaq is a non-profit organization from Rennes, in Brittany, France. The main aim of
our organization is to conduct a reflexion on video art but also on all other forms of images
in contemporary art : photography, installation, drawing, painting, performance or new media art.
Oodaaq, an island discovered in 1978 northeast of Greenland, is said to be the most northern
emerged land on earth. However, this drifting bank of gravel and silt, covered most of the time
by the ice floe, is today untraceable. It is on this invisible, uncertain and inaccessible
territory that we settled our camp, in order to explore contemporary artistic creation. Leading
an existence somewhere between reality and imagination, Oodaaq can be seen as a metaphor for
video- and photographic images.

The Arctic Circle Expeditionary Residency Program, The High Arctic
Artist and scientist led, The Arctic Circle is an annual expeditionary residency program. The Arctic Circle brings together
international artists of all disciplines, scientists, architects, and educators who collectively explore remote and fascinating
destinations aboard a sailing vessel.
The Arctic Circle takes place in the international territory of Svalbard, a mountainous Arctic archipelago just 10 degrees from the
North Pole. Our vessel, a traditionally rigged Tall Ship, is equipped with work space, common areas and ample room for privacy and creativity.
